Wellesley Tennis Earns ITA Academic Team and Scholar-Athlete Awards

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College tennis has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors for the second-straight season. In addition, six members of the Blue have garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the 2016-17 season. 

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).  To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner who has a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and who has been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.

Carina Chen '17, Caroline Dickensheets '17, Dasha Kostikina '17 and Andjela Stojkovic '17 all earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors during their senior season for the Blue. They were joined by rising sophomores Korina Hernandez (Tampa, Fla.) and Selina Peng (Taichung, Taiwan), who earned the academic honor during their first year at Wellesley. 

Comprised of nearly 1,200 men's and women's coaches representing over 1,700 teams across the country from all three NCAA Divisions, as well as the NAIA and Junior and Community Colleges, the ITA oversees activities involving over 20,000 varsity college student-athletes. In addition to ITA collegiate coach members, the ITA welcomes collegiate varsity players, junior players, corporate, and affiliated membership of alumni, associate, college parents, conferences & associations, international federations, junior family and professional.
