Wellesley Tennis Closes Out Fall Season at Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Wellesley College tennis played in the Bowdoin Invitational this past weekend. Wellesley had 12 victories in the two day tournament. First year Michaela Markwart (Hanover, Mass.) brought in one of the biggest wins of the weekend as she defeated Tufts number one singles player, Patricia Obeid (New York, N.Y.).

Doubles victories Friday:

  • Wellesley first years Libby Chang (San Marino, Calif.) and Markwart defeated Londoner and Nieghmond of Bates, 8-3

  • Wellesley senior Sojin Ki (Irvine, Calif.) and sophomore Michelle Buyer (Wilmette, Ill.) defeated Ahn and Decarli of Skidmore,  8-7 (1)

  • Senior Justine Huang (Coto de Caza, Calif.) and first year Michelle Shen (Dallas, Texas) defeated Obeid and Dorr of Tufts, 8-6

  • First year Cinji Lee (Seoul, South Korea) and sophomore Abigail Schleichhkorn (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) defeated Ahn and Decarli of Skidmore, 8-5

 

Singles victories Friday:

  • Lee defeated Decarli of Skidmore, 6-2, 6-4

  • Junior Korina Hernandez (Tampa, Fla.) defeated Swenson of Skidmore, 6-1, 6-3

  • Markwart defeated Obeid of Tufts, 6-3, 1-6, 10-6

  • Chang defeated Londoner of Bates, 6-1, 1-6, 10-8

 

Doubles victories Saturday:

  • Lee and Shen defeated Washington and Londoner of Bates, 8-6

 

Singles victories Saturday:

  • Chang defeated L.Hernandez of Bates, 4-6, 7-6, 10-3

  • Sophomore Lily Chu (Princeton, N.J.) defeated Londoner of Bates, 6-1, 6-4

  • Markwart defeated Carlson of Skidmore, 6-1, 6-1

 

This concludes the fall season for Wellesley tennis.
