No. 3 Wellesley Tennis to Host No. 6 Springfield in NEWMAC Tennis Quarterfinals

WELLESLEY, Mass. – With the conclusion of the regular season, the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the seeds for the 2019 Women's Tennis Championship on Tuesday. No. 3 Wellesley College tennis will host No. 6 Springfield College in the Quarterfinals on Saturday, April 27, at 11:00 AM.

The Blue defeated the Pride, 9-0, in the only match-up between the two teams this season. The last postseason meeting between the two teams was last season in the NEWMAC Championship tournament, a 5-0 Wellesley victory. 

Wellesley (6-2) earned the No. 3 seed while Mount Holyoke (4-4) tabbed the No. 4 slot. Both the Blue and the Lyons will host Quarterfinal matches this weekend. Mount Holyoke will host No. 5 Wheaton (4-4). NEWMAC tiebreaking procedures were conducted to break the three-way tie between Mount Holyoke, Wheaton and Springfield for the final three slots in the tournament.

Clinching the top seed and regular season title with their perfect 8-0 record was MIT. The Engineers have earned hosting rights for one semifinal matchup. Earning the No. 2 seed goes to Babson who wrapped up at 7-1, the Beavers will also host a semifinal match next week.

Semifinal Winners – 12:00 p.m.
