Tennis Lands Four to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the 2022 Women's Tennis Academic All-Conference Team with four members of the Wellesley tennis team earning the honor. A total of 42 student-athletes were honored.

Blue senior Libby Chang (San Marino, Calif.) made the Academic All-Conference Team for the third straight season and will graduate from Wellesley this spring with a degree in Economics. Classmate Michaela Markwart (Hanover, Mass.), a Psychology major, made the team for the second year.

Sophomores Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Annissa Mu (Saratoga, Calif.) each made the Academic All-Conference Team in their first year of eligibility. Alviar is a Neuroscience major and Mu is focusing on Environmental Studies.

Selections must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2021 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
