Keenan Wins ECAC Title as Blue T&F Wraps Season at Outdoor Championships

TROY, N.Y. -- Wellesley first-year Mary Keenan won an ECAC title, leading the Blue track and field team at the 2014 ECAC Outdoor Championships on Thursday and Friday. The event was hosted by RPI in Troy, New York.

Keenan took home her first ECAC title, winning the 5,000-meter event in a time of 17:44.51. The rookie outdistanced the field of 36 runners, securing the first ECAC title for the Wellesley program since the 2011 season.

Joining Keenan on the podium in the 5,000-meter event was sophomore Priyanka Fouda. Fouda ranked fourth overall in the field, recording a time of 17:57.91, to earn All-ECAC honors.

Also at the event, Wellesley smashed a program record in the 4x400m relay. Sophomore Sharon Ng, junior Kendra Waters, first-year Isabella Narvaez, and junior Kathleen Hanlon, teamed up to record a 4:01.34, good for 20th place.

Wellesley junior Nicole Chui and Ng also recorded top-20 individual finishes at the event. Chui ranked 18th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in a time of 11:41.00. Ng was 18th in the 800-meter run, recording a time of 2:23.29.

Wrapping up the individual performances for the Blue were two other top-30 finishes. Senior Doris Berman ranked 26th overall in the 10,000-meter event, running a time of 40:35.37. Rookie Narvaez was 27th in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 1:00.79.

Wellesley's other relay entry, the 4x100m, also recorded a top-30 placement. The team of senior Sheena Dupuy, Narvaez, Hanlon, and Waters, combined for a 25th place finish in 50.23.

As a team, the Blue ranked 23rd overall out of over 150 institutions, scoring 15 total points. The top-25 finish tied the third best team placement for the Blue at an ECAC Track and Field event.
