WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College junior Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) won the 2015 USA Badminton/Yonex Collegiate Nationals women's singles championship. The championships took place on March 21 and 22, in Milpitas, California.

A member of the Blue cross country and track & field teams, Ng and her partner Pinky Li also finished as runner-up in the women's doubles bracket of the tournament.

Ng is no stranger to success at the National Collegiate Badminton Championships, having finished as the runner-up at the 2013 tournament. She has also represented the United States in tournaments throughout the world. She proudly represented Wellesley at the tournament, sporting a 2014 Wellesley Homecoming t-shirt throughout the event.

Ng has been playing badminton since she was 11 years old. In 2012, she won the silver medal at the USA Adult National Championships, just a year after advancing to the quarterfinals of the tournament in 2011. Ng has represented the United States at the Pan Am Junior Championships four times, winning gold in both the Under-22 and Under-19 Divisions at Winter Junior Badminton Internationals in 2010. She also represented Team USA at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia.

Ng and the Blue Track & Field team opens the spring outdoor season on Saturday, April 4, at American International's Yellow Jacket Invitational in Springfield, Mass.
