Asare Breaks School Long Jump Record as Track & Field Opens N.E. DIII Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field first year Abena Asare (Berlin, N.J.) won the Long Jump at the New England Division III Championships hosted by MIT on Friday evening. 

After matching her previous school record mark of 5.63m on her second jump, Asare jumped to a new school record of 5.79m on her next attempt. Her leap of 5.79m held up as the top mark and currently ranks Asare number two overall in Division III this season. 

Asare and the rest of the Blue track & field squad will continue the New England Division III Championships tomorrow at 10:00 AM at MIT.
