Blue Track & Field's 4 x 400m Relay Team Sets School Record at NEICAAA Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field's 4x400m relay team of junior Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.), senior Kendra Waters (Stratham, N.H.), sophomore Isabella Narvaez (Greenwich, Conn.) and senior Kathleen Hanlon (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) ran to a school record time of 3:55.58, as the Blue wrapped up competition at the NEICAAA New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at MIT's Henry G. Steinbrenner Track.

The event capped an outstanding day for Ng, as the Wellesley junior also recorded a personal record time of 4:37.2 in the 1,500m run, winning her heat at the cross-divisional meet.  

Hanlon, Narvaez and Waters also teamed with first year Abena Asare (Berlin, N.J.) earlier in the afternoon to finish third among Division III teams and top-ten overall with a time of 48.58 in 4x100m relay.

Wellesley also competed in two other events on Saturday. In the 4x800m relay, first year Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio), senior Alexandra Dunn (Montpelier, Vt.), sophomore Sonja Cwik (La Canada, Calif.), and first year Taylor Fortnam (Portola Valley, Calif.) ran to a time of 9:34.74, while junior Alessandra Gavin (Annapolis, Md.) opened the day for Wellesley, recording a time of 12:14.13 in the 3000m steeplechase.

Blue track & field will now head to the ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships on Thursday and Friday, May 14 and 15, at Springfield College.
