Blue Track & Field Sweeps Top Three Spots in 5000m Run at ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field sophomore Mary Keenan (Boerne, Texas) led a 1-2-3 Wellesley sweep of the 5000m Run on Friday evening at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Springfield College. 

Keenan took the title with a time of 17:10.74, leading the trio of Blue distance runners to the finish with a personal record time. Junior Priyanka Fouda (Wellesley, Mass.) followed with a second place time of 17:13.10, while senior Taylor Bickford (Limington, Maine) took third at 17:14.91. All three times were personal records.

Wellesley's 24 points in the event (10 for Keenan, eight for Fouda and six for Bickford), currently have the Blue tied for first overall following six events at the ECAC Championships. 

Sophomore Edie Sharon (Wincheser, Mass.) was also competing on the evening, as she registered a time of 12:01.64 in the 3,000m Steeplechase.

Wellesley track & field will continue the the 2015 ECAC Championships tomorrow afternoon. The Blue are scheduled to compete in four events: the 400m Dash, 1,500m Run and the 4x100m and 4x800m relays.
