Blue Track & Field Takes Sixth at ECAC Championships; Narvaez Sets New Mark in 400m

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field concluded competition at the 2015 ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon at Springfield College. The Blue participated in four events, earning three top-ten times and setting one school record, to finish the two-day meet in sixth place with a total of 31 points.

Wellesley's 4x100m Relay team of first year Abena Asare (Berlin, N.J.), senior Kathleen Hanlon (Paradise Valley, Ariz), sophomore Isabella Narvaez (Greenwich, Conn.) and senior Kendra Waters (Stratham, N.H.) opened the afternoon, taking eighth place with a time of 48.74. 

Narvaez went on to earn Wellesley's best finish of the day, taking third place in the 400m Dash with a new school and personal record time of 56.60. Besting her previous sub-57 second time of 56.99, set just last weekend at the NEICAAA New England Outdoor Championships.

Junior Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) was next on the track for the Blue, earning tenth place in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:41.89.

Finally, the Blue's 4x800m relay team of sophomore Sonja Cwik (La Canada, Calif.), first year Allison Kiley (East Haddam, Conn.), first year Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio) and first year Taylor Fortnam (Portola Valley, Calif.) closed out the meet with a time of 9.44.49.

Wellesley track & field will now await word over the weekend on individual qualifiers for the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. This year's championships are being hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., May 21-23.
