Asare, Fouda, Keenan Set For NCAA Track & Field Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College Track & Field first year Abena Asare (Berlin, N.J.), junior Priyanka Fouda (Wellesley, Mass.) and sophomore Mary Keenan (Boerne, Texas) have been selected as qualifiers for the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Championships will take place later this week, May 21-23, at St. Lawrence University's Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex in Canton, N.Y. Asare qualified in the long jump, while both Keenan and Fouda qualified in the 5,000m Run. 

Asare will open competition for Wellesley on Thursday evening at 5:30 PM, as she will compete in the preliminary flights of the long jump. The long jump field, composed of 22 competitors, will be divided into two flights with the top nine advancing to the final round. The final round will immediately follow the preliminaries. The 2015 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year and Long Jump Champion, Asare is currently ranked eighth among all qualifiers thanks to her school record and New England Division III Championships leap of 5.79m.  

Fouda and Keenan will both participate in the 5,000m run on Saturday at 4:05 PM. The event will feature one heat comprised of all 22 qualifiers. Keenan and Fouda are coming off a 1-2 finish in the 5,000m run at last weekend's ECAC Championships. Keenan captured her second-straight ECAC 5,000m title with a a time of 17:10.74, while Fouda took runner-up honors with a mark of 17:13.10. Keenan also received All-New England Honors in the 5,000m Run after placing third at this year's NEICAAA New England Championships.
