NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Wellesley College track & field senior Sonja Cwik (La Cañada, Calif.) finished in 17th place with a time of 10:26.33 in the Women's 3000m Run on Saturday at the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at North Central College's Al B. Carius Track in Naperville, Illinois.

Ithaca College junior Taryn Cordani (Douglas, Mass.) took home the national title in the event, racing to a facility record time of 9:42.43.

Cwik's first career NCAA Championship appearance caps a record-setting indoor season for the Wellesley senior. Cwik qualified for Saturday's NCAA final when she ran a personal and school record time of 9:49.44 to win the 3000m at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet. Cwik's time of 9:49.44 also earned her the first USTFCCCA Indoor Track All-Region honor of her collegiate career, as it was the fourth fastest mark in all of New England this season. Cwik owns the top-two indoor 3000m times in Wellesley program history, having broken a 29 year-old school record to set a new school record in February, before dropping her own time on the final weekend of the regular season.

Cwik and the Blue will return to action when Wellesley opens the outdoor season on Friday, April 7, at the Regis Invitational. For more on the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, log on to NCAA.com.
