Cwik, Narvaez, Sharon Make Final NCAA Bids At MIT Last Chance Qualifier

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field seniors Edie Sharon (Winchester, Mass.) , Sonja Cwik (La Canada, Calif.), and Isabella Narvaez (Cali, Colombia) made one last attempt at securing NCAA Championship qualifying times at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier on a balmy Thursday evening at Sherie and Don (1961) Morrison Track.

Sharon, who clocked a season-best time of 11:22.40 at Saturday's NEICAAA Open New England Championships, opened Wellesley's evening with a time of 11:48.34 in the 3000m Steeplechase. Sharon was second overall among competitors on Thursday evening.

Sharon was followed by Cwik in the 1500m, who entered the evening ranked 41st in the event thanks to her time of 4:37.15 at the NEICAAA Championship. Cwik went on to finish in seventh place with a time of 4:54.10 and will now wait to see if her time from the NEICAAAs will qualify her for the NCAA Championships.

Narvaez completed the evening with a pair of events, beginning with the 400m where the Wellesley senior is currently 28th (56.88) by virtue of her New England Division III runner-up performance earlier this month. Narvaez finished the 400m in 57.70 on Thursday, and also added a time of 25.82 in the 200m.

Qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio will be announced later this week. Check NCAA.com for more information.
