Wellesley's Grace Cowles Qualifies For NCAA Track & Field Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field sophomore Grace Cowles (Yarmouth, Maine) has qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Cowles will represent the Blue in the preliminaries of the Women's 3000m Steeplechase on Thursday, May 23 at 5:25 PM. The Steeplechase final will take place on Saturday, May 25, at 11:30 AM. 

The 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place May 23-25, 2019 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. For information on tickets, parking and more, visit ClevelandSports.org. The Steeplechase consists of two heats on Thursday. The top-five from each heat plus the next best four times advance to the final. 

Cowles is currently seeded 13th in the nation in the Steeplechase thanks to her personal record (PR) time of 10:54.53 at the 2019 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Track & Field Championships. Cowles earned All-Conference Second Team honors with her NEWMAC performance before going on to earn All-Region accolades at this year's NEICAAA All New England Championships with a time of 11:06.54. Cowles was also All-Region and All-Conference during the fall cross country season, finishing in 24th place at the NCAA DIII New England Cross Country Championships with a 6K PR of 22:34.8.
