Wellesley's Cowles Advances to Steeplechase Final at NCAA Championships
GENEVA, Ohio – Wellesley College track & field sophomore Grace Cowles (Yarmouth, Maine) finished fourth in her preliminary heat to advance to the finals of the Women's 3000m Steeplechase at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday at SPIRE Institute.
The top-five from each of the two preliminary heat plus the next best four times advanced to the Steeplechase final, which will take place on Saturday at 11:30 AM. Cowles finished Thursday's preliminaries with the eighth fastest time overall in 10:56.29.
The time was her second fastest time of the season following her 10:54.53 qualifying time and runner-up finish at the 2019 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships. She will now aim for a top-eight time and All-America honors on Saturday.
