Wellesley Sets Three Personal Records at Pine Tree Relays

BRUNSWICK, Maine. – The Blue track & field team competed at the Pine Tree Relays hosted by Bowdoin College and set three personal records on Saturday. 

Senior Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) dominated the 3000 steeplechase, winning the event in 11:21.97. The second place finisher was Megan Fecteau of the University of New England who ran a 13:15.00.

Junior Kathryn Winkler (Bedford, Mass.) took first place and qualified for the New England DIII Championships in the 400 meter dash with an impressive time of 1:00.05. Junior Alejandra Castillo (Chapel Hill, N.C) set a personal record of 1:03.22 in the 400. Classmate Sally Richardson (Orono, Minn.) was able to place fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.68, which was the fourth fastest time in program history. Winkler also placed eighth in the event with a time of 26.80. 

Juniors Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) and Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) finished second and third respectively in the 1500 meter run. Murphy-Weise set a new personal best with a time of 4:56.88 and Anderson broke her PR clocking in at 4:56.89. 

First year Erin Dickinson (Omaha, Neb.) earned a top-10 finish in the long jump at 4.64 meters.  Kiara Dozier (Honolulu, Hawaii) placed 11th in the shot put with a best toss of 8.55 meters. She also competed in the discus and had a mark of 20.71m to place 21st. 

Sophomore Eriko Darcy (Chicago, Ill.) set a new personal best with a time of 13.21 in the 100 meter dash. 

The Wellesley 4x100 meter relay team of Taylor Quaye (Redondo Beach, Calif.), Richardson, Arianna Sablad (Colorado Springs, Colo.), and Darcy ran the sixth fastest time in Wellesley history at 51.03 and finished fourth in the event.

The Blue are set for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Saturday, April 30 at 11:00 AM.
