Volleyball's Carfagno, Laughlin Earn NEWVA Recognition

WELLESLEY, Mass. — The New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) announced its annual post-season awards and Wellesley College volleyball senior Sydney Carfagno has been named to the NEWVA All-New England 2nd team. It is the fourth consecutive NEWVA all-region honor for Carfagno. 

In addition, both Carfagno and senior Caitlin Laughlin have been selected to play in the NEWVA Seniors Class on Sunday, December 7 at UMass Boston's Clark Athletic Center. 

Carfagno led the Blue with 365 kills this season. She averaged 3.61 kills/set this season while also registered a team-leading 343 digs and added 33 service aces, 30 total blocks and 18 assists.

Laughlin completed her senior season second on the Blue with 234 kills while hitting a team-leading .252. She also added a team leading 61 total blocks. 

Both players also earned AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention accolades this season.  

Wellesley Volleyball finished the 2014 season with a 17-11 record, going 6-4 in conference play before falling to regular season champion MIT in the semifinals of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament.
