Wellesley's Gedney Earns NEWMAC Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week Award

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College junior Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) has been named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 6, 2019. The honor is the second of Gedney's career, as she was named NEWMAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week in October 2017.

Gedney recorded 27 kills and a .382 attack percentage in two games this week, helping the Blue remain undefeated (6-0) in NEWMAC play with a 2-0 record. Gedney had a match-high 11 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Smith on Tuesday. She followed that with a dominant performance on Saturday, registering 16 kills and a .483 attack percentage in a 3-0 win over Springfield. Gedney's strong week also moved her into the NEWMAC lead in kills (226) and kills per set (4.11).

The Blue (12-3 overall) continue NEWMAC play tomorrow evening, Tuesday, October 8, with a 7:00 PM match at Clark.
