Blue Volleyball Earns Four NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Selections

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2019 Volleyball Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 45 student-athletes were honored, including four from the Wellesley College volleyball team.

Senior Meghan Shoop (Cypress, Calif.) earned the honor for the third time in her third year of eligibility, while junior Nikkie Jensen (Castro Valley, Calif.) was honored for the second time in as many seasons. Joining Shoop and Jensen, sophomores Nicole Doerges (San Marino, Calif.) and Tiffany Shou (San Jose, Calif.) each earned NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors for the first time.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2019 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Wellesley volleyball (22-4 overall) will host Emerson (19-7) in the NEWMAC Semifinals tomorrow night, Thursday, November 7, at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5 for Adults, $3 for Seniors, $1 for Students, and Children Under 12 are free. Wellesley Student tickets are also free, courtesy of the Office of the President.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
