WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College cross country seniors Sonja Cwik (La Canada, Calif.) and Edie Sharon (Winchester, Mass.) have been honored as U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic selections for the 2016 cross country season. For Cwik, the award is the second of her collegiate career.

In addition, the Wellesley College cross country team was named to the USTFCCCA's list of All-Academic Teams in 2016. For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.

Both Cwik and Sharon were All-Region performers for the Blue at this year's NCAA Regional in Westfield, Mass. Cwik was Wellesley's top finisher in 22nd with a time of 22:01.80, while Sharon added a time of 22:13.88 to take 34th place. Wellesley finished in ninth place overall.

In total, there were 664 athletes (374 women, 290 men) who earned All-Academic mention from the USTFCCCA in NCAA Division III. To be named USTFCCA All-Academic, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and finish in the top-25 percent at their respective regional.

Cwik, Sharon and the Blue track & field team will be in action this weekend at the BU Valentine Invitational and the MIT Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 10 and 11.
