Wellesley Cross Country Finishes 18th At Purple Valley Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Sophomore Taylor Mahlandt (Ephrata, Pa.) finished 82nd overall to lead the Wellesley College cross country team to an 18th place finish in the 6K race at the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday at Williams College. 

Mahlandt finished with a time of 24:51.4 to lead the Blue. She was followed by first year Ava Shipman (Makawao, Hawaii), who finished 84th overall in 24:54.6. Senior Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished third for the Blue in 96th overall (25:14.6). Sophomore Sophie Dolan (Austin, Texas) finished 116th overall in 25:48.6. While first year April Chu (Fremont, Calif.) followed closely behind, finishing 124th overall in 26:08.8. Sophomore Eva Paradiso (Burlington,Vt.) and first year Grace Cowles (Yarmouth, Maine) also racing in Saturday's 6k event finished 131st in 26:15.7 and 144th overall in 26:56.4.

Competing in the women's 5K race, first year Veda Donthireddy (Princeton Junction, N.J.) was the top Wellesley finisher, taking 48th in 22:58.2. 

Wellesley will race again on Saturday, October 7, at the NEICAAA All New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
