Wellesley XC Squad, King, and Mahlandt Awarded USTFCCCA Academic Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. — The Wellesley College cross country team, senior Isabella King (Cincinnatti, Ohio), and sophomore Taylor Mahlandt (Ephrata, Pa.) have been recognized for their outstanding academic achievements by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2017 cross country season.

Blue cross country received the Team All-Academic Award from the USTFCCCA. For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. In addition to the team honor, both King and Mahlandt earned Individual All-Academic awards after earning cumulative GPAs of 3.30 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and finishing in the top-25 percent at this year's NCAA Northeast Regional. Wellesley finished 15th as a team, with Mahlandt taking 39th (22:21.4) and King 59th (22:39.1) to lead the Blue, at this year's NCAA Regional.

After a successful fall in cross country, King and Mahlandt have both qualified for this weekend's New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 5000m. The event is set to take place on Saturday (Feb. 17) at Springfield College.
