Marks Leads Cross Country at Season Opening Wellesley Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- First year Ariana Marks (Eagle Point, Ore.) finished fifth overall in her collegiate debut at the Wellesley Cross Country Invitational on Friday evening at Nehoiden Golf Course.

Marks led the Blue with a time of 19:45.7 as Wellesley finished second overall with 44 points. Sophomore Grace Cowles (Yarmouth, Maine) completed the race at 19:58.4 ito take eighth place, while first years Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) and Natalie Li (Charlottesville, Va.) followed behind to secure the ninth and tenth spots with times of 19:59.7 and 20:01.0. Sophomore April Chu (Fremont, Calif.) clocked in a 20:11.5 time, followed by sophomore Samara Shaz (New York, N.Y.) at 20:25.9 and junior Taylor Mahlandt (Ephrata, Pa.) with a 20:25.9 time.

Wellesley also fielded an alumnae team in the race and saw recent grad Isabella King '18 finish fourth overall with a time of 19:19.1. The Blue alumnae finished third overall, trailing Wellesley and first place Brandeis University. 

Wellesley will compete next on Saturday, September 15 at 12:00 PM at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
