Wellesley Cross Country Releases 2022 Schedule

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College cross country and head coach Phil Jennings, the 2021 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, have released the 2022 cross country schedule.

The season opens with the Blue hosting the annual Wellesley Invitational on the evening of Friday, Sept. 2 at Nehoiden Golf Club at Wellesley College. Wellesley has hosted the season-opening invite in each year since 2017, with the exception of 2020. This year's races will begin at 6:15 PM EDT.

Following the Wellesley Invitational, the Blue will travel to run in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in Dartmouth, Mass. Last year's field at UMass Dartmouth included 30 teams and saw the Blue take sixth in the team standings. 

Following the trip to Dartmouth, Mass., Wellesley will race in the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial Park in Waterford before beginning preparations for the 2022 NEWMAC Cross Country Championships. The year's NEWMAC Championships will be hosted by Wheaton College and run on the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Two weeks after the NEWMAC Championships, the Blue will head to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine on Saturday Nov. 12 for the 2022 NCAA Division III East Regional Championship. The Blue will be in search of a return trip to the NCAA Division III Championships. This year's NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will take place at Forest Akers East Golf Course in Lansing, Mich. on Saturday, Nov. 19. Last year, Wellesley qualified for the NCAA Championships for the fifth time and the first time since 2015, finishing 15th overall at nationals.
