Anderson Leads Blue to Runner-Up Finish at Wellesley Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Mount Holyoke College senior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) finished with a time of 18:24.7 to capture first place in the women's 5K at the 2022 Wellesley Invitational at Nehoiden Golf Club. Wellesley senior Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) was the runner-up in 18:45.6.

Brandeis (40 points) captured the women's team title with a narrow victory over the host Blue (43 points). Selkin and the Lyons finished third (54 points) while Regis (Mass.) was fourth (92 points). In the men's 5K race Brandeis (15 points) defeated Regis (50 points) as Brandeis senior Matthew Driben (Reading, Pa.) took first in 16:03.9.

Wellesley senior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) took sixth in 19:19.4. First year Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished with a time of 20:08.6 in her collegiate debut. First years Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) and Elise Lanahan (Greenville. S.C.) closed out the scoring for the Blue. Beauchamp was 13th in 20:34.4 and Lanahan was 16th in 20:53.2. Both runners made their collegiate debut for the Blue in the race.

Wellesley will return to action on Saturday, September 17 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
