Being a part of the Wellesley College Swimming and Diving team has meant the absolute world to me. Nothing in my life has brought me this much joy, love, or strength. I have learned so much about myself in my four years on this team. This team has helped me grow into the person I’ve always wanted to be, and the person I never quite thought I could be.
If you told 12 year old me, who had just joined a swim team, what she would feel right now, the love she would have for herself and her teammates, the strength she would have in her and around her, and the community she would have with her the rest of her life, she wouldn’t believe you. Thank you for allowing me to slip and fall. Thank you for allowing me to shine.
At our annual ropes course at the beginning of this season I said that this team is magical, and it 100% is. Being a member of this team is a magical experience and I hope my teammates and all future members of our team feel that. I hope they bask in it. I hope they realize that they bring a special magic to the team that we have never had before, and I want to thank them for sharing their magic with me.
