Wellness Wednesday #1: Exercise Your Mind

Wellness Wednesday #1: Exercise Your Mind

What is Wellness Wednesday? Beginning this week on wellesleyblue.com, Wellesley Sports Medicine will offer a 5-15 minute "activity" each Wednesday that is aimed at exercising the mind in relation to the behaviors of well-being and mental health. Each activity will include practice for you to do during the week.

"Take 15 minutes where you leave all distractions behind," said Niki Rybko, Wellesley's Director of Sports Medicine & Well-being. "Maybe it is something you will adopt, maybe you will spend just 15 minutes and just have some peace. At the end of the day, this is for you and your experience is yours."

"Though this podcast focuses on performance, I feel the key points can be applied to any aspect in our lives," said Rybko. "I challenge you to see why mindfulness would be an important practice to adopt and be motivated to try it this week.

Find a place in your day where you can take two minutes to do a guided meditation, maybe even the one from this podcast. Try to attach it to something you do daily so you will make it a priority and not forget. For example your morning coffee, before you start class online, before your shower, after a workout or a walk, or before you go to bed. If we make this important and amplify its benefits then 'we can be the best we can be for the people around us!' "
