Wellesley Cross Country and Track & Field Announces the Hiring of Annie Rodenfels

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Phil Jennings, Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, and PERA Assistant Professor of the Practice at Wellesley College has announced the hiring of Annie Rodenfels as Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field-Distance Coach.

A four year member of the Centre College cross country and track & field team, Rodenfels is a three-time NCAA National Champion with wins in the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m run. Rodenfels is also the NCAA Division III all-time record holder for the 3000m steeplechase.

Rodenfels joins with experience as a professional runner at the ASICS Greenville Track Club-Elite, where she competed in the 2021 U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials in the 3k steeplechase. She also holds multiple team records and the South Carolina state record in a road race 5k. Rodenfels was most recently a professional runner with the Boston Athletic Association where she trained for the U.S. Olympic Trials and U.S. National Teams as a distance runner.

For two years, Rodenfels served as the head cross country/ track & field coach at Greenville Technical Charter High School in Greenville, South Carolina. There she qualified two cross country teams to the state championships and one individual from the track & field team in the 100 meter hurdles.

Originally from Centerville, Ohio, Rodenfels graduated from Centre College in May of 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Gender Studies.
