WELLESLEY ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME

The Wellesley Athletics Hall of Fame celebrates the spirit and achievements of Wellesley scholar-athletes and those who have inspired and supported them. Athletics Hall of Fame members exemplify the College’s longstanding conviction that varsity athletics play an important role in the development of leadership abilities, the cultivation of character and discipline, and the resolve to strive for excellence in every aspect of life.

LINDA K. VAUGHAN AWARD FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE

Established in 1989 as the Friends of Wellesley Athletics Exceptional Service Award, and renamed in 2010 to honor former Chair/Director Linda K. Vaughan, this award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated relentless passion in support of Wellesley’s accomplishments in recreational and competitive athletics and who has shown the team spirit, creativity, courage and leadership that exemplify Linda Vaughan’s belief that the way we play the game and the way we live our lives is more important than the final score.

FRIENDS OF ATHLETICS HONOR AWARD

Given to those individuals who have rendered outstanding service and support to Sports and Recreation at Wellesley College.

FIVE-YEAR SERVICE AWARDS

This award is given by Friends of Wellesley Athletics to recognize coaches, athletic trainers, staff and athletic administrators who have contributed to the intercollegiate athletic program in five-year increments. Recipients receive a 'W' pin following five years of service to the department.

ATHLETICS AWARDS CEREMONY

Friends of Athletics sponsors PERA's annual end-of-year athletics awards ceremony for student-athletes, held in Tishman Commons. The event includes ice cream for all student-athletes in attendance and is a celebration of the accomplishments of the year. A reception for all senior varsity and club sport athletes takes place prior to the ceremony. The Linda K. Vaughan Award and the Honor Award are presented along with the annual department awards for student-athletes, including the:

SCHOLAR-ATHLETE COMMENCEMENT STOLES

Since 2009, this award has been given annually to varsity student-athletes who participated on a given Wellesley team for all four years. Each senior class is recognized at the annual Senior Stole Ceremony with a blue 'Scholar-Athlete' stole to wear with pride during Commencement, symbolizing their commitment as a varsity student-athlete. Student-athletes that participated for all four years, including all competitive seasons are also awarded 'W' pin.
