Wellesley College Athletics - Accessibility and Disability Resources

Wellesley College Athletics Student-Athlete Handbook

For student-athletes who would like to inquire about accommodations for academic or athletic activities, we encourage you to contact the Department of Accessibility and Disability Resources (ADR). ADR determines and coordinates accommodations for students and the wider Wellesley College community with the goal of providing equal access to academics, campus programs and resources. ADR works closely with faculty and coaches to provide the resources to integrate students with documented disabilities into the classroom to make learning accessible as well as sports achievable. Students can begin the accommodation application process with ADR by filling out the request form on AIM, the College’s accommodation portal.

If you are already receiving academic accommodations, you may want to explore with ADR possible sports related equivalents. Please also consider sports related accommodations to include making known your learning strengths (such as being an auditory, visual, hands-on learner), food needs with respect to allergies and gluten, and general communication of sports theory and practice. If you receive an accommodation for consideration of attendance at practice, we will explore options to make up this session. In the event that there may not be a reasonable makeup session given the nature of the sport, missed practice time may result in a decrease in participation in competition because of preparation or decreased conditioning.

For more information, contact ADR via accessibility@wellesley.edu, Director Jim Wice at jwice@wellesley.edu, Assistant Director Becky Melville at rm106@wellesley.edu, or go through through the ADR Student FAQ at the following link: Student FAQ.
