Wellesley Field Hockey’s Azzi Attending NCAA Career in Sports Forum

Wellesley College Field Hockey senior Alex Azzi (Rye, N.H.) is attending the NCAA Career in Sports Forum this weekend, June 4-7, in Indianapolis, Indiana. For the sixth-straight year, more than 200 current student-athletes and NCAA postgraduate scholarship recipients with an interest in working within sports were invited to attend. Azzi is one of three representative from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), as both Billy Schmid of Springfield College men's soccer and Rebecca Olivieri of the Wheaton College women's basketball are also in attendance this weekend.

Wellesley College field hockey seniors Nathalie Gruet and Meghan Peterson and junior Anissa Sridhar all earned a place on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2014 Division III New England Region Field Hockey All-Star team. Gruet and Peterson were selected as members of the First Team, while Sridhar earned a Second Team selection.

The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2014 field hockey All-Conference team and postseason award winners on Wednesday. Conference regular season and tournament champion, Wellesley College, led the way with five selections, including the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, Nathalie Gruet. Wellesley head coach Julia King was also named the NEWMAC Coach of the Year.
