NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – No. 8 Wellesley College field hockey closed out the 2015 regular season with a 3-0 non-conference victory over The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on a rainy night at Cressy Field.

The Blue finish the regular season with a 15-2 overall record and will now await word on their seeding for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship tournament. UMass Dartmouth moves to 12-7 overall following tonight's contest.

The Blue held the Corsairs to just two shots in the game and no shots on goal. Wellesley outshot the hosts by an 11-2 margin, also holding an 11-7 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.

Wellesley used one of their 11 penalty corner chances to score the game's first goal at 19:30 of the first half. First year Rachel Hwang (Campbell, Calif.) inserted the ball to classmate Cecie Negron (Midlothian, Va.), who used a quick shot to beat UMass Dartmouth sophomore goalkeeper Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) for her third of the season.

Negron's marker would hold up as the game-winner, but not before the Blue added two more goals in the contest. Junior Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored the second Wellesley goal in the 31st minute of action. Senior Hannah Flesch assisted on the play, as Peterson scored her 11th of the season.

Flesch would go on to add a goal of her own in the second half, redirecting a drive from classmate Anissa Sridhar (London, Ontario, Canada) to score her tenth goal of the season and the 40th of her career at 58:41. Flesch now has five goals and an assist in her last four games for the Blue.

Burke finished with four saves for the Corsairs, while junior goalkeeper Lucy Hurlock (Needham, Mass.) went untested to record the win in the Wellesley cage.

UMass Dartmouth will travel to Western Connecticut for their regular season finale on Saturday, October 31. Wellesley will return to action next week in the NEWMAC tournament, check wellesleyblue.com for the latest schedule details.
