Three From Blue Field Hockey Earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2019 Field Hockey Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 60 student-athletes were honored, including three from the Wellesley College field hockey team.

Leading the way for the Blue is senior Clare Doyle (Louisville, Ky.), now a three-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection. Junior Kristine Meader (Ypsilanti, Mich.) earned the honor for the second time in her Wellesley career, while sophomore Julia Rappaport (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) was named to the team in her first year of eligibility.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2019 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Wellesley field hockey finished the 2019 campaign with a 10-9 overall record, advancing to the NEWMAC tournament in the program's first season under the direction of Head Coach Callie Lekas '10.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
