GILBERT, Ariz. -- Wellesley College field hockey junior Carson Dennis (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) has been named a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-New England East Region First Team selection for the 2019 season.

The All-Region selection is the first of Dennis' Wellesley career following a season in which she was named to the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team for the first time. Dennis enjoyed a career year in 2019, finishing as Wellesley's leading scorer while establishing career-highs in points (39), goals (15), and assists (9). Dennis was the top-scoring midfielder in the NEWMAC, finishing in the top-five in points, goals, and assists.

Dennis scored the game-winning goal in five of Wellesley's ten wins on the season and totaled three multi-goal games. Her best performance of the year came on Oct. 12 vs. rival Mount Holyoke, when Dennis scored a hat trick that included the game-winning goal in overtime as Wellesley rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Lyons, 4-3.

This year, 197 Division III student-athletes were named to Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region teams. Division III teams are separated into five regions: Great Lakes, New England East, New England West, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, and South. Each region honors at least 16 student-athletes on a first team and at least 16 student-athletes on a second team — a region's team size is contingent on the number of institutions within their region.
