Wellesley Field Hockey Announces 2022 Schedule

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College field hockey and Head Coach Callie Lekas '10 have released the 2022 field hockey schedule. The schedule features 18 games, 10 non-conference contests and eight New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match-ups.

The Blue open the regular season at home when the team welcomes non-conference Framingham St. to Butler Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7:00 PM. The match-up with the Rams is the first of nine home games for the Blue in 2022.

Following the home opener, Wellesley hits the road for the first of nine times, playing two games in three days in Maine. The Blue will play Husson on Saturday Sept. 3 and Saint Joseph's (Me.) on Monday, Sept. 5. Wellesley returns home on Thursday, Sept. 8 to host Tufts before heading back out on the road the following week for a contest at Worcester St. on Tuesday, Sept. 13. 

The NEWMAC season opens on Saturday, Sept. 17 when the Blue welcome Clark to Butler Stadium. Wellesley will host four NEWMAC home games in 2022, as the conference celebrates its 25th year. Home NEWMAC opponents include: Clark, Wheaton on Sept. 24, MIT on Oct. 15, and Springfield on Oct. 29. 

Wellesley will battle Bowdoin at Butler Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 21 before returning to NEWMAC play against Wheaton on Saturday, Sept. 24. The team will then play four straight road contests, at U of New England on Sept. 28, WPI on Oct. 1, Nichols on Oct. 5, and Smith on Oct. 8 before returning home to face Salve Regina on Oct. 12.

Four of the final five games on the Wellesley schedule are NEWMAC contests, including Oct. 15 vs. MIT, Oct. 18 at Babson, Oct. 22 at Mount Holyoke and the Oct. 29 regular season finale vs. Springfield. The non-conference schedule concludes on Oct. 25 with a home game vs. Mass.- Dartmouth.

The 2022 NEWMAC Field Hockey Championship will take place Nov. 1-5, 2022.
