WELLESLEY, Mass. - A late goal led No. 9 Babson to a 2-1 win over Wellesley College field hockey in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Tuesday evening at MacDowell Field.

Sophomore Andrea Marguerite (Hopkinton, Mass.) had a goal and an assist and senior Brianne McGrath (Newmarket, Ontario) scored for the Beavers (13-3 Overall, 6-0 NEWMAC). Junior Alex Lenart (Princeton Junction, N.J.) scored the goal for the Blue (6-9 Overall, 2-4 NEWMAC).

Babson got on the scoreboard early in the first quarter when Marguerite made the most of a penalty corner and an assist from sophomore Berit Sharrow (Denver, Colo.).

Late in the second quarter Wellesley evened the score at 1-1. Lenart took a pass from sophomore Camille Newman (Manhattan, N.Y.) and slapped the ball into the left corner of the cage on the breakaway.

Midway through the third quarter, Wellesley sophomore Eleanor Wenners (Rye, N.H.) made a critical defensive save for the Blue to maintain the tie. The game remained 1-1 through the end of the third.

With just two and a half minutes remaining McGrath took advantage of a scramble and buried the ball to give Babson their final 2-1 score. Marguerite assisted for Babson.

The Blue finish off their two-game road trip Saturday at Mount Holyoke for a 12:00 PM NEWMAC game. The Beavers travel to Clark for a NEWMAC game on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
