BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Blue softball team fell in two New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) games at No. 24 Babson on Friday afternoon.

The Blue drop to 3-22 overall and 2-10 in the conference and Babson moves to 26-6 and 10-2 in the NEWMAC.

Game 1 | Babson 4, Wellesley 0 | Final

Babson starting pitcher Moira O'Reilly (Columbus, Ohio) tossed one-hitter and struck out 12 batters in game one and improved to a 15-2 record. Sophomore Chloe Theriault (Peoria, Ariz.) picked up the lone hit with a single in the seventh inning.

The Blue saw an opportunity in the top half of the second after senior Hayley Moniz (Westfield, Mass.) was hit by a pitch and first year Lauren Young (Fresno, Calif.) earned a walk. Both runners were left stranded as O'Reilly worked out of the jam. Babson then tacked on three runs in the frame starting with an RBI double from Kate Karamouzis (Rockville Centre, N.Y.). Sara Moore (Kennett Square, Pa.) followed with a sacrifice fly to center field and Audrey Labouliere (Pipersville, Pa.) brought home the third run with a triple down the right field line.

The Beavers would take a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning off an error by the Wellesley left fielder. Moniz made the start for the Blue and dealt all six innings and didn't allow an earned run while striking out a pair of batters.

Game 2 | Babson 4, Wellesley 1 | Final

Junior Ingrid Hsu (San Ramon, Calif.) and senior Holly Chin (Newton, Mass.) each went 2-for-3 in a close loss in game two. Babson senior Logan MacDonald (Wilmington, Mass.) pitched a complete game allowing one earned.

In the bottom of the first, Chloe Joslin (Wyoming, R.I.) got the Beavers on the board with a sacrifice fly to score Moore. The lead didn't last long as junior Marisa Sgambati (Scottsdale, Ariz.) brought home Chin to tie the game. Babson would then score another in the third as Labouliere reached on a fielder's choice and brought home one. Hsu and Chin picked up a pair of singles in the fourth but couldn't reach home as Young hit one on the screws but lined out to the shortstop and Sgambati flew out to left.

The Beavers extended its lead to 4-1 in the fifth on three hits in the inning. Theriault added another hit in the final inning, but the following Blue batters were retired and Babson held on to the 4-1 victory.

Wellesley is set to host a pair with Coast Guard on Saturday, April 23 starting at 12:00 PM. Babson will head to Springfield tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader starting at noon.
