Blue Crew Finishes Eighth at Head of the Charles

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Wellesley College crew team competed this weekend at the 49th annual Head of the Charles Regatta. The event, the largest two-day regatta in the world, featured over 8,000 athletes from around the world competing in 60 different races.

Wellesley competed on Sunday in the Collegiate Eight division, taking eighth place out of 25 boats. The Blue recorded a time of 18:49.053. 

Wellesley's boat was made up of sophomore coxswain Alessandra Zaldivar-Giuffredi, sophomore stroke Meg Roberts, sophomore seven-seat Kelsey Trabucco, sophomore six-seat Hayley Jewett, senior five-seat Becca Kimball, first-year four-seat Hannah Barton, sophomore three-seat Grace Howland, sophomore two-seat Olivia Thayer, and senior bow Ildi Gaal

Wellesley is back in action next weekend at the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Bryn Mawr. The Blue will be looking for their fifth-straight title at the event.
