Blue Crew Sweeps By Simmons at Charles River Basin Rowing Series

BOSTON, Mass. — Wellesley College Crew participated in the Charles River Basin Rowing Series #4 on Saturday morning, taking on local rival Simmons College in the Blue's final tune-up before next weekend's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship.

The Blue's varsity eight (V8) collected the first of three Wellesley victories on the day, cruising to victory with a time of 6:49 to top Simmons (7:05) by 16 seconds. 

In the matchup of second varsity eights (2V8), Wellesley got out to a sizable lead, topping the Sharks by a 20 second margin, as the Blue finished with a time of 7:05 ahead of the Simmons mark of 7:25.  

Wellesley fielded two boats in the third variety eight race, taking 1-2 in the race with times of 7:23 (3V8) and 7:39 (4V8). Simmons followed with a time of 7:50. 

The Blue now head to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. for the 2015 NEWMAC Championship on Saturday, April 25th at 8:30 AM. The event will open with the Novice 8 race at 8:30 AM, followed by the Third Varsity at 8:40 AM, Second Varsity at 8:50 AM and Varsity Eights at 9:00 AM.
