A record-breaking spring culminated with Blue crew winning the first NCAA national championship in program history and the first team national championship in Wellesley school history. Wellesley College crew seniors Loren Lock (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and Sydney Dollmeyer (Warren, Vt.) have been named to the 2016 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA)/Pocock Division III All-America Team. In addition, Head Coach Tessa Spillane has been named the CRCA Division III National Coach of the Year, while Spillane and assistants Seth Hussey and Hannah Woodruff ’11 have been named the CRCA Division III Coaching Staff of the Year.

The National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) announced the recipients of the regatta's postseason awards this week and Wellesley College Head Coach Tessa Spillane was selected as the NIRC Women's Coach of the Year. In addition, senior Loren Lock (Fond du Lac, Wis.) was named to the 2016 All-Stewards Team, while also joining 20 of her teammates as an NIRC All-Academic Selection.

Second Varsity Eight Takes Title, Varsity Eight Fourth at NERC

Wellesley College crew's Second Varsity Eight took the title in the 2V8 Grand Final, while the Varsity Eight finished in fourth in the V8 Grand Final as the Blue competed at the 2016 New England Rowing Championship on Saturday on Lake Quinsigamond. The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2016 Rowing Coach of the Year as well as the Sportsmanship Award Recipients on Tuesday. After leading the Blue to their sixth consecutive championship title, Head Coach Tessa Spillane has been voted as the 2016 Rowing Coach of the Year. Spillane earns the award for the fifth time after also receiving the honor in 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2015.

Wellesley College crew swept all four races en route to the program's sixth-straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship on Saturday morning on Lake Quinsigamond. Blue Crew's title secures the conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division III Rowing Championships in Gold River, California, where Wellesley will make the program's seventh consecutive trip to the national championships.
