Wellesley Crew Opens 2018-19 Season at Quinsigamond Snake Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Wellesley College crew opened the fall racing season on Saturday at the annual Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond, competing in the Women's Varsity 8 and Women's Novice 8 races.

The Blue Varsity 8 finished second in the Women's Varsity 8 race, completing the 2.5 mile course with a time of 15:39.916. The Blue trailed only New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival WPI, with the Engineers finishing with a time of 15:04.183.

Wellesley's 2nd Varsity Eight was eighth in the field of 15th, finishing in 16:34.255. The Blue 3rd Varsity was just four spots back of 12th in 17:00.043. The Blue also fielded two boats in the Women's Novice 8, finishing second and fourth with times of 17:34.768 and 18:11.553.

The Blue will return to action next Sunday, October 21, at the 54th Head Of The Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boston. The Women's Collegiate Eights will begin at 2:41 PM.
