WELLESLEY, Mass. – The No. 2 Nationally Ranked Wellesley College crew team is set for the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 28, at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. The University of Central Florida will serve as the NCAA host institution for the championships in conjunction with the Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy.

Wellesley earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship regatta after winning both the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship and the conference's Florence Jope Smith Points Cup. Recently, the Wellesley Varsity Eight (V8+) placed first for the first time in program history at the 2022 New England Rowing Championship and placed second at the National Invitational Rowing Championship.

The Blue are in pursuit of the program's second NCAA National Championship. Wellesley, who won the program's first National Championship in 2016, placed third at the 2019 NCAA DIII Championships and finished as the runner-up in 2018. Wellesley has finished in the top-four in every NCAA Division III Championship from 2011 -2019. 

For 2022, the championships will be composed of eight teams. Each team is required to field two boats of eight rowers and a coxswain. The following are the berths that are allocated:  Pool A – four (Pool A consists of conferences that have been awarded automatic qualification); Pool B/C – four (Pools B and C include independents, institutions from conferences that do not meet automatic-qualification standards and Pool A institutions that did not receive their conference's automatic qualification.).
