Wellesley Golf Takes Runner-Up Honors at Batchelder Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College golf posted a final round 313 to finish in second place on Sunday at the 2019 Ann S. Batchelder Invitational at Wellesley's Par-72, 5,860 yard Nehoiden Golf Club.

Williams College and individual medalist Joanna Kim (Edina, Minn.) took home the team title (296-302-598), finishing 30 strokes ahead of second place Wellesley (315-313-628). Kim finished with a two-day total of 143 (70-73). 

Middlebury College (319-314-633) took third, while Amherst College was fourth (332-314-646), and Mount Holyoke (339-334-673) finished in fifth. Vassar (368-356-724) took sixth and Trinity (Conn.) finished in seventh (438-428-866). 


2019 Ann S. Batchelder Invitational


First year Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) finished with the weekend low for the Blue, dropping six strokes on Sunday to shoot a 74 (80-74-154) and finish in a tie for 5th. Sophomore Audrey Lin (Fremont, Calif.) dropped two strokes from her opening round 79, carding a 77 to take ninth place (156).

Senior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and sophomores Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) and Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) each finished with matching scores of 159 to tie for 10th. Sophomore Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) was two strokes back in a tie for 14th (161), while first year Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) finished in a tie for 21st (165). 

Sophomore Chansie Yang (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) shot a final round 85 to finish in 26th and senior Olivia de Cuba (Bilthoven, Netherlands) carded a 93 and was 34th to round out the Blue scores. 

Wellesley returns to action next weekend at the Mount Holyoke Invitational, September 21-22, at The Orchards in South Hadley, Mass.
