Kate MacVicar Makes An Ace as the Blue Stand in Second at Liberty League Championships

Verona, N.Y. – Junior Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) stands in a tie for first place and the Wellesley golf team is in second after a windy day one of the Liberty League Championships at Turning Stone Resort.

NYU holds the tournament lead of 305 (+17) with the Blue behind at 330 (+42). Ithaca College and Union (N.Y.) are in a tie for third at 356 (+68). Rounding out the leaderboard is St. Lawrence in fifth (413) and William Smith in sixth (424).

Kate MacVicar led the way with a first round  74, including a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th hole. She finished the round with three birdies and a 34 on the back nine. Senior Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) is in sixth place on the individual leaderboard with a first round 82. 

Sophomore Emma Lim (Naperville, Ill.) and junior Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) each fired a first round 87 to stand in a tie for 11th place. Rounding out the scoring for the Blue was senior Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) who was just one shot behind with an 88.

Wellesley will compete in day two of the Liberty League Championships tomorrow afternoon with tee times beginning at 12:00 PM.
