Persky Earns 100th Career Point in 16-12 Setback Against Framingham St.

WELLESLEY, Mass.-- Junior Dacia Persky (Las Vegas, Nev.) earned her 100th career point for Wellesley College lacrosse against Framingham State in a 16-12 setback on Wednesday afternoon at the Wellesley Fields Complex. Framingham improves to  5-1 on their season, while Wellesley falls to 0-5.

Persky paced the Blue with four goals in the contest. Junior Olivia Strobl (Stafford, Va.) chipped in with a hat trick and a caused turnover. Seniors Mayu Kikuchi (Villanova, Pa.), Jenny Gubner (Pleasanton, Calif.), first years Kat Gallison (Portsmouth, R.I.), Louise Conaty (Wilmington, Del.), and junior Ellie Chalphin (Philadelphia, Pa.) rounded out the scoring for Wellesley, all with one goal each. Senior Jenna Mulrenan (Glen Ridge, N.J.) scooped up a game-high seven ground balls, while causing four turnovers.

Framingham St. was led by sophomore Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, MA) with five goals and four assists. Senior Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, MA) and sophomore Audrey Duhaime (Belchertown, MA) both recorded hat tricks. Senior Kristen Keenan (Methuen, MA), first year Morgan Begley (Milton, MA), sophomore Nicole Pacheco (Woburn, MA), first year Hanna McMahon (Watertown, MA), and junior Tess Destino (Gloucester, MA) all netted a goal in the win for the Rams.

Foley got the Rams on the board first at 29:15. Wellesley followed with back-to-back goals, as Persky scored her 100th career point at 26:54, followed by Gallison, to give the Blue the 2-1 lead at 22:15. The Rams then scored five unanswered goals starting at 20:21 to take a 6-2 advantage. Chalphin, Persky, and Gubner scored the last three goals of the half for the Blue to cut the deficit to 8-7 going into the halftime break.  

Framingham St. extended their lead to open the second, scoring the first two goals of the half thanks to Gamache and Duhaime. Strobl put away two more at 26:40 and 26:09 to tie the game 10-10, but Framingham St. answered at 23:07, with Destino sparking a four goal run to give the Rams a 14-10 cushion. Wellesley scored at 15:43 and 08:20 from Strobl and Kikuchi but it was not enough as the Rams secured the 16-12 win.

Wellesley Junior goalkeeper Chloe Tucker (San Ramon, Calif.) recorded eight saves and is now 0-5 on her season. Framingham St. junior Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, MA) backstopped the Rams with 10 saves and improves to 5-1.

Both teams hit the road on Saturday, March 24, as Framingham St. will play against Eastern Conn. St. at 12:00 PM and the Blue will open NEWMAC play with a 1:00 PM start at Babson.
