Lacrosse Named IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, Two Named to DIII Honor Roll

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Led by senior Lena Engbretson (Beaverton, Ore.) and junior Dee Dee Lennon-Jones (Redmond, Wash.), Wellesley College Lacrosse has been named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 2018-19 academic year. In addition to the team honor, Engbretson and Lennon-Jones were each named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for carrying GPAs over 3.50. 

The IWLCA named 303 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2018-19 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, women's lacrosse programs must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Blue have now earned the honor in back-to-back seasons, after also being named an IWLCA Honor Squad in 2018. 

To be eligible for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. The IWLCA honored 630 student-athletes from 166 different institutions on the 2019 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. Engbretson, who graduated this spring was a Middle Eastern Studies major, while Lennon-Jones, who will return for her senior year this fall, is a Computer Science & Psychology major. 

The IWLCA is a membership-led, professional association representing the nation's intercollegiate women's lacrosse coaches within Division I, II & III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The IWLCA is a 501c(3) nonprofit educational organization.
