Blue Lacrosse Earns Five NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Selections

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2020 Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 72 student-athletes were honored, including five from the Wellesley College lacrosse team.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2019 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Four members of the squad earned the honor for the first time, while junior Ella Matticks (Minneapolis, Minn.) earned her second Academic All-Conference honor. The complete list of Blue honorees can be found below (*indicates number of times named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team): 

Wellesley lacrosse opened the 2020 season with a 1-3 overall record. Wellesley's first victory of the year came on March 4, a 12-5 win over Wentworth.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
