WORCESTER, Mass. – Wellesley senior Eleanor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Blue to a 13-11 win over Clark on Friday night in Worcester.

The Blue snap a six game losing streak and improve to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. Clark falls to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Mallett added five draw controls and two ground balls to go along with her five goals. Sophomore Gabrielle Shell (Upper Arlington, Ohio) scored a career-high three goals on four shots.

First year Aubrey Conners (Devon, Penn.) and sophomore Angela Borelli (West Haven, Conn.) each scored three goals for Clark. Junior Elizabeth Liakos (Arlington, Mass.) contributed with two goals in the loss.

The Cougars got off to a quick 2-0 lead with goals from Liakos and Borelli. Mallett would respond with her first goal of the contest off an assist by Shell to cut the lead in half. With the game tied 3-3 after the first quarter, Conners sent home a goal to open the second and give Clark a 4-3 lead. Wellesley would score a pair of goals from senior Izzy Burdick (Scarborough, Maine) and junior Cassie Potter (New York, N.Y) to take a 7-5 lead before Kiley Simmons (Atkinson, N.H.) got one back just before the half.

Wellesley tallied two goals in the third quarter, one from Burdick and junior Liz Sugg (Palermo, Maine) to hold a 9-8 lead. Less than a minute into the fourth, Shell completed her hat trick with a free position goal and extended the Blue lead to 10-8. The Cougars answered with two consecutive goals and the game was tied at 10 with 10:38 to play. The Blue then got a clutch goal from junior Salome Greene (Minnetrista, Minn.) just over a minute later. It marked the first goal of Greene's collegiate career and gave Wellesley a 11-10 lead. Mallett kept the offensive pressure on and added an insurance goal off an assist from Burdick. Clark would not go away just yet as Conners scored on a free position goal to cut the lead to one with 5:51 to go.

The game was finally put away after Mallett scored her fifth goal after a beautiful pass from Potter and Wellesley hung on to win 13-11. Blue keeper Lorna Li (Taunton, Mass.) sent away 13 shots in the victory.
