Four Represent Wellesley Lacrosse on 25 Year All-NEWMAC Team

The NEWMAC announced the Women's Lacrosse 25 Year All-NEWMAC Team in recognition of the historic 25th Anniversary season. A total of 28 student-athletes have been recognized from the last 25 years, including former Wellesley College lacrosse student-athletes Kate Armenta '01, Claudia Veritas '02, Grace Tsan '03, and Loretta White '10. The honored team was voted on by the NEWMAC membership.

Blue Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Honor Squad Honors; Four Named to Individual Academic Honor Roll

Wellesley College lacrosse has been named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for the 2022-23 academic year and four members of the Blue lacrosse program have been named to the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll.

On Thursday, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its 2023 Spring All-Sportsmanship Team. Seniors Gaya Krishna (Houston, Texas), Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.), juniors Elli DeCleene (North Reading, Mass.), Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) and first year Chloe Guntrip (Irvine, Calif.) represented the Blue on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2023 Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday. Wellesley College lacrosse placed three team members on the list. Seniors Liz Sugg (Palermo, Maine) and Salome Greene (Minnetrista, Minn.) both made their consecutive trip to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team while junior Gabrielle Shell (Upper Arlington, Ohio) made a second appearance on the list.

Wellesley Lacrosse Stopped by MIT in Regular Season Finale

Senior Ellie Rabenold (Cincinnati, Ohio) registered four goals and four assists to lead No. 25 MIT to a 23-2 win over Wellesley College lacrosse in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on a rainy Wednesday night at Butler Stadium.First year Finley Tipton (Coppell, Texas) scored both goals for the Blue (5-11 Overall, 3-6 NEWMAC), including her 30th goal of the season late in the fourth. First year goalie Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.) stopped seven shots in net for the Blue while senior Hannah Pangborn (Raleigh, N.C.) had two saves in addition to scooping up three ground balls. MIT collected 22 ground balls and Wellesley had 13.

Blue Lacrosse Earns 10-6 Victory Against Mount Holyoke

April 22, 2023

Senior Liz Sugg (Palermo, Maine) scored a hat trick and added an assist to lead Wellesley College lacrosse to a 10-6 victory over Seven Sisters rival Mount Holyoke College in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday at the Mount Holyoke Turf and Track Complex. Sugg also secured five draw controls and scooped up five ground balls, while first year Finley Tipton (Coppell, Texas) and junior Gabrielle Shell (Upper Arlington, Ohio) each added a pair of goals for Wellesley (5-10 overall, 3-5 NEWMAC). First year Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.) registered a game-high three goals and three assists in the setback for Mount Holyoke (3-11 overall, 0-8 NEWMAC).

Blue Lacrosse Falls to Springfield, 17-4

Senior Carlee Crispens (Wallingford, Conn.) scored a game-high four goals and classmate Arielle Johnson (Woodstock, Conn.) added three goals and two assists as visiting Springfield College cruised to a 17-4 victory over Wellesley College lacrosse in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Wednesday evening at Butler Stadium.

Blue Lacrosse Drops Senior Day Game to Babson

Four players recorded hat-tricks for Babson as they completed a 24-0 shutout over Wellesley College lacrosse in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday at Butler Stadium. Prior to the game the Blue recognized seniors Liz Sugg (Palermo, Maine), Salome Greene (Minnetrista, Minn.), and Hannah Pangborn (Raleigh, N.C.) for their contributions to the Wellesley lacrosse program.

Wellesley Lacrosse Edges Out Emerson, 16-14

Wellesley College lacrosse earned a second straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory on Tuesday, rallying for a 16-4 victory over Emerson College at Rotch Field.  Junior Gabrielle Shell (Upper Arlington, Ohio) scored the go-ahead goal at 3:06 of the fourth, finishing on an assist from first year Camille Francis (Bowie, Md.) to help the Blue improve to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in NEWMAC action. Junior Lauren Longstreet (Alamo, Calif.) netted six goals with a trio of assists to lead Emerson (3-9 overall, 1-4 NEWMAC).

Blue Lacrosse Triumphs over Clark, 16-2

First year Finley Tipton (Coppell, Texas) tallied four goals and two assists for Wellesley College lacrosse as they toppled Clark 16-2 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday at Butler Stadium. Saturday’s game was dedicated to the One Love Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to end relationship violence and promote healthy relationships.

Wellesley Lacrosse Downed by Worcester State

April 05, 2023

Graduate student Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) scored a game-high five goals and senior Savanna Rosado (Milford, Mass.) made six saves to lead visiting Worcester State University to a 15-1 non-conference victory over Wellesley College lacrosse on a chilly Wednesday evening at Butler Stadium. The Lancers (5-5 overall) scored 15 unanswered goals to open the contest en route to their third straight victory of the season. Wellesley (2-8 overall) has now lost seven straight contests.

Coast Guard Pushes Past Blue Lacrosse, 15-1

April 01, 2023

Eight first quarter goals helped Coast Guard soundly defeat Wellesley College lacrosse 15-1 on Saturday in a New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game from Butler Stadium. Junior Sarah Skurat (Marlboro, N.J.) was the Bears’ (7-3 Overall, 3-0 NEWMAC) high scorer with four goals, while senior Gianna Cascio (Hunterdon County. N.J.) had four assists. Defensively, sophomore goalie Maici Mintchwarner (Cream Ridge, N.J.) stopped two shots and had a pair of ground balls for Coast Guard.

Lacrosse Downed by Southern Maine, 17-4

March 29, 2023

Grad student Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine) scored six goals to propel Southern Maine to a 17-4 win over Wellesley College lacrosse on Wednesday at Hannaford Field. In addition to Shanks’ six goals and two assists, Junior Kiaya Gatchell (Portland, Maine) had two goals, five assists, and four ground balls for the Huskies (4-5). Sophomore goalie Lydia Laslavic (Thomaston, Maine) saved four shots and classmate Julia McKenna (Windham, Maine) won seven draw controls.

Wellesley Lacrosse Falls to Wheaton, 23-6

March 25, 2023

Wheaton secured a comfortable 23-6 win over Wellesley College lacrosse in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday from Nordin Field. Senior Brooke Harvey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) tallied nine points for the Lyons (6-2 overall, 2-0 NEWMAC) with six goals and three assists. Classmate Jessie Kilburn (North Brandford, Conn.) chipped in four goals and an assist while Lara Finnie had a hat-trick and a pair of assists. Senior goalie Emily Kelly (Norwell, Mass.) stopped five shots in net for Wheaton.

First year Finley Tipton (Coppell, Texas) matched a season-high with five goals as Wellesley College lacrosse dropped a 15-8 non-conference match-up versus visiting Bridgewater St. on Wednesday evening at Butler Stadium.

Smith Gets Past Wellesley Lacrosse, 16-5

March 18, 2023

Fueled by a steady barrage of offense, Smith defeated Wellesley College lacrosse 16-5 to open New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) competition on Saturday. Senior Reese Gittelman (Ocean City, Md.) scored a hat-trick with two assists and four ground balls for the Pioneers (4-3 Overall, 1-0 NEWMAC) while first year Caroline Sanders (Trabuco, Calif.) also scored a hat-trick. First year goalie Brooke Testa (Pittstown, N.J.) saved seven shots for Smith.
