WELLESLEY, Mass. – Junior Kyla Petrie (Denton, Texas) scored a pair of goals to lead Wellesley College soccer to a 2-0 non-conference victory over visiting Endicott College on Tuesday afternoon.  With the result, Wellesley moves to 4-1-0 overall, while Endicott slides to 1-4-0 on the season.

Petrie got the Blue on the board in the first half, scoring her first goal of the season at 23:13 when she powered home a shot from the right side of the goal on a pass from the top of the penalty area by classmate Maddie Carlborg (Burbank, Calif.).

The junior midfielder added her second of the season to put the game out reach in the second half. Just over ten minutes after the break, an Endicott foul set up Petrie to score the first penalty kick of her career at 55:48, as she beat Endicott goalkeeper Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) to make the score 2-0.

The Blue would close out the victory from there. Senior goalkeeper Kat Goldsmith (Armonk, N.Y.) added the second of two second half saves after Petrie's second goal to register her fourth shutout in five games this season.

Armbruster made four saves for the Gulls, as the Blue outshot their opponents by 14-5 margin in the contest.

Wellesley will now play its first road match of the season, opening New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play with a 1:00 PM contest on Saturday afternoon at Emerson. Endicott will also return to conference play when they host Nichols on Friday at 4:00 PM.
